Menard Asia and Cambodia’s Board of Engineers held a transformative training event on ‘Soil Improvement,’ uniting engineers to master innovative methods for elevated construction quality and resilience in Cambodia.

On Friday, September 8, 2023, Menard Asia, with Board of Engineers, Cambodia, organized a training session on the topic of “Soil Improvement”.  The training, which was attended by about 300 participants, aimed to increase the capacity, skill, and the knowledge of engineers in Cambodia on different methods of soil improvement.

The assembly comprised a distinguished group of registered engineers and professional engineers, all meeting the rigorous criteria set forth by the Board of Engineers, Cambodia. This illustrious gathering was presided over by the esteemed H.E. Sokhom Pheakavanmony, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and H.E. Sokhom Rithivuth, Secretary General of the Board of Engineers, Cambodia. Accompanying them was H.E. Lok Chumteav, Deputy Secretary General of the Board of Engineers, Cambodia. The event was further enriched by the presence of a delegate speaker from Menard Group, a testament to the significance of the occasion

Our Regional Technical Director, Menard Asia. Richard Ong, led the first session of the training on the topic of “Consolidation Method for Reclamation Land”. Richard’s presentation was a profound exploration of the perils associated with reclamation projects on soft soil terrains and elucidated how consolidation techniques can effectively mitigate these risks. Following Richard’s insightful discourse, Cyril Plomteux, Deputy General Manager of Menard Group, took the reins, leading the second session. His expertise shone as he delved into the intricacies of “Soil Stabilization for Deep Soil Mixing.” Throughout this session, participants were privy to an in-depth understanding of the technique’s underlying principles, practical applications in soil mixing, and a collection of compelling real-world case studies. Furthermore, the training fostered an environment conducive to open dialogues and interactions between the speakers and the engaged participants, thus facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas and the dissemination of invaluable knowledge.
