Ground Improvement Lectures at Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung by Menard Indonesia

Menard Indonesia continues to demonstrate its commitment to education and the development of future engineering talent by participating in the Kampus Merdeka program at the Bandung National Institute of Technology (ITENAS).

On October 18th, 2024, Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Viqri Fahmi kicked off the first of a four-part lecture series designed to introduce students to the critical concepts of ground improvement. This collaboration aligns with Menard’s mission to share industry expertise and foster a deeper understanding of modern geotechnical solutions.

Menard’s Commitment

At the core of Menard’s corporate ethos is a strong focus on knowledge-sharing and sustainability. As part of the university’s Kampus Merdeka curriculum in Indonesia, the lecture series provided an excellent platform for Menard to extend its industry knowledge to the young future engineers. The lecture began with an introduction to ground improvement techniques, shedding light on the historical development, application, and real-world significance of these methods in addressing soil challenges across different terrains.

The Kampus Merdeka program, designed to bridge academic learning with practical industry experience, has been a national educational movement that emphasizes the importance of hands-on learning in shaping Indonesia’s future professionals. Through this lecture series, Menard aims to not only impart technical knowledge but also inspire the next generation of engineers to approach geotechnical challenges with innovation and confidence.

Ground Improvement Solutions for the Future

The lecture provided students with an opportunity to understand how modern ground improvement methods, such as soil consolidation and soil reinforcement, contribute to the construction of infrastructure. Such solutions that are able to ensure safe and long-lasting foundations for any kind of structures are critical in regions like Southeast Asia, where soil conditions are often variable and challenging.

The session also highlighted Menard’s global expertise in geotechnical engineering, backed by VINCI Construction, while emphasizing the company’s localized approach in addressing specific ground improvement needs in Indonesia and Southeast Asia region.

Looking Ahead: More Sessions to Come

Until November 2024, Viqri Fahmi, Geotechnical Engineer in Menard Indonesia, will continue to lead three more lectures at ITENAS. In addition to providing theoretical insights related to ground improvement, the remaining sessions will include more real project case studies, helping students link classroom learning to practical applications.

Apart from sharing knowledge, Menard also took the opportunity to distribute some Menard-branded goodie bags to participating students to further strengthen its engagement with the future engineers.

The company looks forward to expanding its educational outreach, contributing to the development of ground improvement knowledge, and fostering a generation of engineers equipped to handle the complex infrastructure challenges Indonesia faces.
