Menard Asia in Cambodia has completed the ground improvement project for the Elite Town – Villa C utilizing Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC).
Project Overview
Menard Cambodia - MGS Soil Treatment has successfully completed the Elite Town – Villa C project, employing Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) to enhance ground stability. This innovative method provided a treated shallow foundation for the villa, fence, and car parking areas, effectively mitigating risks associated with saturated cohesive soils and ensuring long-term structural integrity.
Ground Condition
The site presented a complex array of soil conditions, predominantly saturated cohesive soils, including soft clay layers. These conditions posed substantial risks of settlement under load, highlighting the need for a robust ground improvement solution to ensure the stability and longevity of the structures.
Solution: Controlled Modulus Column (CMC)
Menard proposed the Controlled Modulus Column (CMC) method as the optimal solution for this project. This innovative ground improvement solution using Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) to reinforce the soil beneath the shallow footings of the villa building. The installation process used specialized equipment to efficiently create displacement columns, helping the surrounding soil consolidate quickly. The CMC columns with a diameter of 320 mm were designed to fit the existing soil conditions and to support a service load of 25 tons. Throughout the project, strict quality control measures were followed, enabling timely completion and highlighting Menard's commitment to delivering effective ground improvement solutions.
