Project Overview

The project consists of Chemical Plant Extension to produce polypropylene included in the tire composition. Menard Asia is in charge of Controlled Modulus Column (CMC) & Stone Column (SC) realization (ground improvement method) by pouring columns, injecting mortar, predrilling, and compacting stone.
Menard Asia scope of works:

  • Organize Soil Investigations and design the ground improvement for the Contractor
  • Perform CMC ® & Stone Column on 8 areas
  • Provide the Contractor with PLT (Plate Load Test) – testing method for CMC & SC
  • Level finalization with sand layer for LTP (Load Transfer Platform)

Soil Condition

The ground conditions in this area were totally different from one area to the other. Menard Asia has treated 8 major areas subdivided in zones to get the most optimized design. There were compacted sands with a hard layer around 2,.5 m depth until 7 m. Then, some areas were composed of soft clays (brown and green) and sandy clays with a hard layer from 6 m up to 8 m.
