Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) has been installed by Menard to accelerate the consolidation of the compressible soils.
Project Overview
The project consists of a construction of single storey factory over compressible soils on Lot 66 100, Tanjung 12, Banting, Kuala Langat, Selangor.
Ground Condition
A factory is to be built over a piece of land consists of compressible soil from 0 m to 21 m depth. Due to the construction of the factory, considerable settlement is expected. As such, ground improvement is required for this project.
Menard Solution
In order to accelerate the consolidation of the compressible soils, Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) with surcharge is proposed by the Engineer for this project. Menard is engaged for the installation of PVD: 571,230 lm of PVD is installed in triangular grid 1.0 m, 1.2 m and 1.5 m centre to centre to a maximum 21 m depth.
