Project Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Menard Asia, a leading geotechnical engineering company, completed the ground improvement works for the Driving Experience Center at Sepang Circuit, Selangor, Malaysia. The project’s main objective was to prepare a stable platform for the construction of the driving experience facility. The ground improvement works were essential to expedite the primary consolidation process, considering the expected future permanent load, and to ensure that the residual settlement remained within tolerable limits.<\/p>\n

Ground Condition<\/h2>\n

One of the significant challenges faced during the project was the soft ground condition at the project site, which was located at a low lying area. Soft ground can pose a risk for construction projects, as it may lead to settlement and stability issue. Menard Asia performed ground improvement techniques to enhance the soil’s load-bearing capacity and stability.<\/p>\n

Menard Solution<\/h2>\n

The ground improvement method utilized was Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVDs) with surcharge. These vertical drains accelerate consolidation by providing pathways for excess pore water to escape from the soft compressible ground. The installation of PVDs significantly reduced the time required for consolidation, making sure the ground is ready for subsequent construction activities in the shortest possible time.<\/p>\n
